My brother in law left an old fashioned glass water bottle in my kitchen about 1/10th of the way filled up. For 15 years we dropped change in the bottle. My kids grew up with that bottle in the kitchen in a corner dropping things into it. After an injury, I needed something to do and I poured the pennies out.
